The reason I love it is because I used to want to find the answers. Hearing this quote made me stay with the question so that the answer can find me. It allowed me to quiet my brain so that I can stay in the moment, observe more and be fully present. It find myself more open and curious because of it.

How do you start your day?

Three things: I journal. It always starts with the 5 things I am grateful for. I walk my dog. I have a workout (a swim, run, bike ride or a gym workout). I schedule these because I need people to do them with. I also do them in the morning – they kickstart my day. By 8:30 AM I am ready to go.

Dream it. Plan It. Live it. I actually have three rocks in my office with those exact words. My daughter painted them and gave them to me as birthday present when she was ten.

What always brings a smile to your face?

Two things: my teens and having the privilege to learn. As my kids grow up I get to see the world through their eyes. I love seeing them navigate their world and search for independence. I think they teach me what I need to learn. I love to learn. Getting to do a PhD in Leadership and Change is like being in candy shop for me. Learning from my clients on a daily basis is the cherry on top.

How do you incorporate reflective practice in such a busy schedule?

I journal. Ten years ago this wasn’t my thing – I wasn’t patient enough for that. I have since discovered how important it is to put things on paper. I started with 12 weeks of journaling following Julia Cameron’s suggestions in The Artist Way (write three pages every day) and realized how much that did to crystalize my thinking. It is how I start my day. It always starts with the 5 things I am grateful for.

Traditional Bio

I am a leadership development consultant, facilitator and systems thinker with a focus on fostering healthy leadership in healthy organizations. My four areas of work include change leadership, nurturing organizational culture and learning, innovation, and enabling equity, diversity and inclusion.

As change agent, facilitator and systems thinker, I combine my scholarly interest in leadership, innovation and change with my practical experience in leading exceptional teams to deliver strategic results.  The work I am excited about is creating a compelling vision and strategy, co-creating action plans through engagement and co-creation with  stakeholders and building healthy, innovative cultures that tap into people’s strengths, creativity and diverse perspectives for sustained change.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy, a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science, and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change. My doctoral work focused on organizational culture in long-term care. My ongoing research work is focused on leading change and empowering leadership and innovation in healthcare. I am scholar practitioner, combining research and practice into work, am the founder of Unlimited Potential and co-founder of Deliberate Shift.
